The prodigal intern returns!

Leah Murphy (Tessa Ferrer) is returning to Grey's Anatomy this season, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Leah was unceremoniously fired from the Grey Sloan Memorial surgical intern program in Season 10 after Richard (James Pickens Jr.) told her she didn't have the skills of her peers and wasn't going to make the cut.

Ferrer went from Grey's to Shonda Rhimes' comedy pilot Toast (along with Grey's star Jerrika Hinton) but the show wasn't picked up to series. She's now set to appear in an unknown number of Season 13 episodes, which could potentially lead to Ferrer being a regular on the show again.

Grey's Anatomy: Will Alex go to jail?

Will Leah make it back into the surgical program? That's still to be seen, but a more likely possibility is that she'll show up to resume her short-lived romantic relationship with Arizona (Jessica Capshaw). Their brief sexual entanglement in Season 10 threw Leah for an emotional loop (a right of passage for first-year interns after sleeping with their superiors on Grey's Anatomy). Capshaw has previously teased that Arizona's new love interest, now that Callie (Sara Ramirez) has moved to New York, will be showing up relatively soon.

What do you think of Ferrer's return?
