Ghost Whisperer is finally ready for the comics, now that it’s no longer a Touched by an Angel clone. The CBS hit is the subject of a new five-issue series (the first issue goes on sale March 26) from comic-book publisher IDW. "The show has become darker, and there are evil forces everywhere, and that makes it perfect for us," says IDW editor in chief Chris Ryall. The plot of the comic finds a dead teenaged girl (who believes she is the Egyptian god Osiris) trying to wrangle earthbound souls away from heroine Melinda Gordon. But this is no slam-dunk like other IDW properties (Angel, CSI, Star Trek), since the majority of comic readers are male. "[Ghost] is considered a girls’ show," notes Ryall. "It’s not something guys watch for any other reason than to gawk at Jennifer Love Hewitt. This is definitely a risk for us." — Michael Logan Get a close-up look at the graphic Ghost Whisperer here and here.To find a comic shop near you, call 888-266-4226.
