Ricardo Medina Jr., who played the Red Ranger on Power Rangers Wild Force and the villain Deker on Power Rangers Samurai, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder in the stabbing death of his roommate.

Medina is charged with stabbing his roommate Josh Sutter multiple times with a samurai sword on January 31, 2015. If convicted, Medina will face 26 years to life in California state prison. Prosecutors are asking for his bail to be set at $1 million. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Medina was originally arrested shortly after Sutter's death, but was released on Feb. 3 of last year when the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office didn't feel there was enough evidence to charge him at that time.

Medina's attorney says he was acting in self-defense.
