Sterling K. Brown, Queer Eye's Fab 5, Darren Criss and more are buzzing about the nominations
The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were announced Thursday morning by The Handmaid's Tale's Samira Wiley and New Amsterdam's Ryan Eggold, and all the likely suspects made the cut.
The Handmaid's Tale, Stranger Things, The Marvelous Mrs. Maiseland The Crown proved once again that streaming is here to stay, racking up a seriously impressive number of nominations. Other choice favorites like Game of Thrones, This Is Usand Westworldhad a nice turn out too, and Jesus Christ Superstar walked away with a surprising 13 nominations, including a lead actor nod for potential EGOT-winner John Legend.
Celebs shared their shock, congratulations and, in some cases, snark on social media. Though honestly, we're not sure anyone's reaction beats Samira Wiley's "That's cool!" when she was told on-air that she was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series right after she made the announcements.
The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards will air Monday, Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC.
