The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has denied CBS's plea that it be able to submit both Survivor and Survivor: The Australian Outback as separate programs for Emmy awards consideration, Variety reports. The network had asked that the two seasons of the reality phenom be considered as individual programs in the newly created non-fiction (special class) Emmy category. However, ATAS VP John Leverence argued that the two Survivors are actually two seasons of the same show. Speaking of Survivor, one-time castaway Gervase Peterson was reportedly assaulted Thursday by a limo driver who was taking him to a taping of the CBS soap As the World Turns. Peterson, who was unharmed, opted not to press charges.
