Diane Lane is continuing her relationship with the DC Comics.

After playing Martha Kent, Superman's adopted mom, in Zack Snyder's DC Extended Universe for two films, Lane is moving to the TV side of things. FX announced Wednesday that she'll play Senator Jennifer Brown in the highly anticipated adaptation of the acclaimed comic series Y: The Last Man.

Senator Brown is a first-term junior senator who already has a reputation of putting her personal goals over political ideals, according to the FX character description. More importantly, Jennifer Brown is the mother of both Yorick and Hero Brown.

As for Yorick, the titular last man who is possibly the last surviving male following a global plague that attacks the Y chromosome, the honor goes to Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk, The Killing of a Sacred Deer). His sister Hero (Imogen Poots) is an EMT who crosses personal and professional lines due to an "intense emotional trauma."

The cast will be rounded out by Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield and Marin Ireland as FX waits to announce who will play President Margaret Valentine. The series is executive produced by American Gods co-showrunner Michael Green and Luke Cage EP Aïda Mashaka Croal along with Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson and Brian K. Vaughn.

Y: The Last Man was written by Vaughn and Pia Guerra and began its run in 2002.
