Michael C. Hall Is Totally Down for More Dexter

Will this be the next reboot?

In this day and age, it feels like all someone has to do is say, "Man, I really loved that show," and every network is rushing to throw together a reboot or revival, no matter if the show in question has been off the air for a few years or even a few decades. The current candidate up for returning? Showtime's Dexter!

Dexter aired from 2006 to 2013 and told the story of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a forensic blood splatter specialist who also happened to be a secret serial killer. Though he had an undeniable urge to kill, he paired it with a moral compass that turned him into a vigilante of sorts, hunting only murderers and other criminals who'd escaped the justice system.

In a recent interview with Variety, Hall, who played the titular character on Dexter for eight seasons, conveyed his interest in returning to that world should the opportunity arise. "People on the street are always telling me about the talk of a Dexter reboot," he said. "There've been little percolations, but nothing that's felt worth pursuing." Hall also noted that the character isn't dead, so it's possible to return, but he doesn't "have any immediate, definitive plans to do any of that."

Percolations doesn't exactly sound like anything substantial, but considering we're currently in the renaissance of reboots and revivals, it also doesn't seem like the minds behind Dexter would need too much of a push to start seriously considering it. It certainly helps that Hall sounds amenable to playing the character again if the opportunity arose.

Would you watch a Dexter reboot or revival? Or is this one better left untouched?

All eight seasons of Dexter are currently streaming on Netflix.
