Now that Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) is finally addressing his personal demons on Chicago P.D., he'll be in the right frame of mind to help his partner Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) who, in a reversal of roles, will soon find herself leaning on him for support.

"We'll see him open up where he gets to help out Upton who's going through some stuff and gets to repay the favor, so to speak," showrunner Rick Eid revealed to TV Guide.

Not only will the Intelligence detectives finally bond on a much deeper level, Halstead also gets the opportunity to pay Upton back for saving his badge earlier in the season. After all, she's the one who covered for him during his brief tumble down the rabbit hole in which he dated a drug dealer connected to one of their cases. And now that Jay is back on track, it's his turn to be the supportive one.

"Upton's been a really good friend and partner to him and now Halstead gets to be a really good friend and partner to her," added Eid.

Let's just hope the partners can stay on the same page from here on out.

Chicago P.D. airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
