Despite some backlash from fans and former cast members, The CW's Charmed reboot has officially been picked up to series, and it will be airing this fall.

From the trailer released today, the reboot seems to follow the premise of the original series while also making some major changes. Whether that attracts fans or pushes them away, the actresses behind the new Charmed Ones hope fans will try to give the reboot a chance before passing judgment.

"The original is still there and we have a kind of new little offshoot that I do think is going to be really fun and entertaining and current and conscious," Madeleine Mantok tells TV Guide. "I think it's great. Give it a shot."

Original Charmed cast member Holly Marie Combs caused a ruckus when she took to social media to voice her disappointment in the reboot. Combs wrote, "Here's the thing. Until you ask us to rewrite it like Brad Kern did weekly don't even think of capitalizing on our hard work. Charmed belongs to the 4 of us, our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly the fans. FYI you will not fool them by owning a title/stamp. So bye."

Charmed Reboot: Meet the New Halliwell Sisters and the Rest of the Cast

For those hoping to see the reboot honor the original Charmed Ones and their story, Melonie Diaz promises that the fight for truth and justice (and the protection of innocents) will still be a major theme in the show.

Charmed will air Sundays at 9/8c on The CW this fall.

(Full Disclosure: TV Guide is owned by CBS, The CW's parent company.)
