Brooklyn Nine-Nine Gets Into the Christmas Spirit with Some Die Hard Action in New Trailer

3...2...1... slow-mo!

The first trailer for Brooklyn Nine-Nine's sixth season, which will air on NBC after a heroic rescue mission by the Peacock network, is as gloriously dramatic as it needs to be to memorialize the show's triumphant return to the small screen.

The Die Hard-themed preview features Jake (Andy Samberg) sending Terry (Terry Crews), Amy (Melissa Fumero) and Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) down from danger with his last three rappel ropes while he takes the tougher way out and leaps away from the exploding building they've all been trapped atop of.

"Time to wrangle me a chopper," Jake says, invoking the spirit of his fictional hero, John McClane.

Per usual, Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) is beaming with pure admiration as Jake sails in slow-mo across the skyline to defy gravity, but even Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) has to admit, "Jake is the finest cop in the city -- nay, the world."

Of course, Brooklyn Nine-Nine isn't that kind of show, so this turns out to all be a figment of Jake's self-aggrandizing imagination, as he tries to sell this as a recruitment video idea to his teammates, and it basically goes over like a lead balloon. If Holt had his druthers, this trailer would be a boring screen read of the premiere details and nothing more (and, yes, there's an alternative version featuring just that).

Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns for Season 6 on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 9/8c on NBC.
