Britney Spears failed to appear for a Wednesday deposition in her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, instead calling in sick. "Approximately 10 minutes after her counsel appeared, they were notified that because of an illness or medical condition, Ms. Spears would not appear today and consequently the deposition is not going forward," K-Fed's attorney said afterwar. What ails Brit? A source tells TMZ "the anxiety" of being under such scrutiny "is making her sick. It's just too crazy."

Spears' sworn deposition, which is expected to last several days (and find her own lawyers crying, "Objection!" more oft than not), will be rescheduled.

In other, more titillating Britney news, French producer Philippe Rebboah tells Us that Spears is "reviewing the script" for Sweet Baby Jesus, in which Supermom would play "a pregnant 19-year-old unsure of her baby's paternity who goes into labor on Christmas Eve in Bethlehem, Maryland, as rumors swirl that the birth is Jesus Christ's second coming." That should play well with the pope.
