Anthony Michael Hall has been cast in the new season of TNT's drama Murder in the First, confirmed by the network. The Dead Zoneveteran will play Paul Barnes, who reappears in the life of his pop star daughter, Alicia, after she suffers an overdose.

Sara Paxton has been tapped to play Alicia Barnes, the 22-year-old over sexualized star who's troubled path looks similar to that of her mother's. In her most recent tabloid exploit, she nabbed the heart of married pro-football player, Normandy Parker.

In its third season, Murder in the First will explore the tangled world of sports and celebrity when a pro-football player is murdered. As homicide Inspectors Terry English (Taye Diggs) and Hildy Mulligan (Kathleen Robertson) realize their investigation is more complex than they'd anticipated, the inspectors are faced with their own personal trials that add more pressure to the case.

Murder in the First premieres Sunday, June 19 at 10/9c on TNT
