A new American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson teaser is only 30 seconds long but contains a snippet of one of the series' most tense moments.

Audiences get a quick glimpse of Simpson (Cuba Gooding Jr.) contemplating suicide in Kim Kardashian's childhood bedroom. He has the gun out and ready to go when Robert Kardashian Sr. (David Schwimmer) races into the room and begs him not to do it, not in "Kimmy's bedroom."

According to Lawrence Schiller, author of American Tragedy: The Uncensored Story of the O.J. Simpson Defence, the scene is based on true events. The middle Kardashian daughter was 14 at the time and staying with her father during Simpson's trial. Before the famous Bronco chase, Kardashian Sr. caught Simpson recording a suicide tape in the bedroom. Kardashian begged him not to do it since Kim slept in that room and he didn't want it tainted with such a traumatic event.

The Ryan Murphy-helmed series premieres Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 10/9c on FX.
