When trappers Jules Beaubien (Earle Williams) and his friend Baptiste (Brinsley Shaw) return to their Northwoods home, they find that Annette -- Jules' sister and Baptiste's sweetheart -- has been "wronged" (as they said in those days) and has died. The pair are determined to avenge her death, but they don't realize that the man responsible, William MacDonald (Robert McKim), is right in their midst. He is staying with Andrew MacTavish (George Nichols) and already has his eye on MacTavish's daughter Hilda (Jane Novak), whom Jules loves. Jules finally discovers that MacDonald is his man, but he makes sure Hilda is safe before luring him to the river for a duel. Jules kills MacDonald and returns, triumphant, to Hilda. This film was based on an old stage play by Eugene Walter.
