One of the many Yank-in-London tales that have been popular with Britons through the years, this film focuses on inept American detective Carlson, who--while vacationing in England--is recruited by a secretary, Anderson, to investigate the supposed suicidal death of her employer's daughter. Carlson stumbles onto the solution to the mystery, discovering that the "victim" is still alive, having passed off a corpse as herself in order to escape extortion charges. Faced with exposure, the "dead" Gynt tries to kill Carlson, but only succeeds in shooting her accomplice, Lom.
