The ultimate fantasy film for those in love with hunk Gibson. Laurie plays a middle-aged woman who takes young retarded Tim (Gibson) under her wing and teaches him how to function in the world. The manipulation notwithstanding, Gibson is quite good as the young retarded man, and it is a nice change of pace from his MAD MAX persona. TIM is based on a novel by the author of The Thorn Birds, Colleen McCullough.
