A simple behind-the-scenes show biz story starring Rogers as the master of ceremonies at a local movie house. Live vaudeville-type acts perform there between films, and Grable, in an early starring role, wants to get on the stage and perform. Instead, she's quickly handed a flashlight, joining Livingston (Jack Benny's wife in real life) as an usherette. Popular radio comics Jim and Marian Jordan provide some laughs as their Fibber McGee and Molly characters, but the real fun is Davis. He's the broadcasting sound effects man, and he steals the show with his one-man bit. Otherwise, it's a routine musical programmer. Songs include: "Is It Love or Is It Infatuation?" (Sam Coslow, Frederick Hollander), "This Way Home," "Delighted to Meet You," "What This Country Needs Is Voom Voom" (Al Siegel, Sam Coslow), "I'm the Sound Effects Man" (George Gray).
