The Turn of the Screw Reviews

A Spanish adaptation of Henry James's novel The Turn of the Screw, with the role of the governess taken by a young man (with appropriate overtones of potential homosexuality). Sanchez, a young priest fresh from a Basque seminary, assumes responsibility for young charges Landa and Goyanes, the possibly possessed little devils of the novel, which--apart from the gender change--the film follows fairly closely. Resolution comes when the spirit-ridden Landa dies of a heart attack. The picture received a film festival screening in 1985. (In Spanish.)
