The Secret of NIMH Reviews

This superbly animated (but weakly scripted) tale was produced by Don Bluth, who left Disney Studios when he became dissatisfied with the quality of their animated films in the 1970s, taking a dozen of Disney's best animators with him. The result is a return to the lush, finely detailed animation seen in the best Disney features. This is the story of a mother mouse's desperate attempt to move her family to a new location before they are killed by the farmer who is soon to plow his field. Although hindered by her son's illness, the mother mouse gets help from some escaped laboratory rats with superior intelligence. Among the actors who lend their vocal talents to the proceedings are Dom DeLuise and the fine British stage actor Derek Jacobi.
