The Mermaids of Tiburon Reviews

Rowe is a marine biologist and Carey a murderer. Both are on the trail of elusive "fire pearls" reputed to be somewhere near Tiburon, an obscure island off the coast of Mexico. While tracking the gems, Carey kills Mexican sea captain Gonzalez-Gonzalez and Rowe meets up with some mermaids. Most of the above-water narrative is dull and laced with pseudo-science. The picture takes a turn for the better (but not much) when it dives beneath the surface. Mermaids have been seen before (MR. PEABODY AND THE MERMAID) and after (SPLASH) but seldom less engagingly than in this film. Made in something called Aquascope.
