Newsreels originally produced by Louis de Rochemont and narrated by Westbrook Van Voorhis comprise the second part of the March of Time -- Trouble Abroad videotape series. Subtitled Tensions Increase, this volume chronicles the growing unrest in Europe immediately prior to World War II, as well as general issues and concerns within the United States in 1937. Archival newsfilm segments include "Junk and War," about the recycling of scrap metal for weapons; "England's D.O.R.A.," concerning England's problems with prohibition; "Fiorello Laguardia"; "Crisis in Algeria"; "Amoskeag -- Success Story," about the Amoskeag cotton mills; "U.S. Secret Service," a report on the techniques used to fight counterfeiters; "Alaska's Salmon War," concerning problems with offshore Japanese fishing fleets; "Ships, Strikes and Seamen," about problems in the merchant marine; "Britain's Gambling Fever"; "Finland's 20th Birthday"; and "Laugh Industry." Gleaned from newsreels produced by Time Magazine during the years 1935-1951, the monumental March of Time videotape series features the "pictorial journalism" that informed, educated, and entertained millions of Americans for 16 years.
