The Devil's in Love Reviews

Jory stars as an army doctor who joins the French Foreign Legion when he is falsely accused of murder. He falls in love with Young, the niece of the mission priest, until he learns that she is engaged to his best friend. Meanwhile, the police catch up to Jory and he is prosecuted by Lugosi (in a small but key role). In the end he is cleared of all charges and is reunited with Young after her fiance is conveniently killed in battle. Lugosi's role was his last attempt to escape typecasting by appearing in a straight part. But his brief footage in the film went unnoticed by reviewers and producers, and his name is absent from the main credits. The final straw in this failed attempt to change the course of his career lies in the fact that THE DEVIL'S IN LOVE is not always included in Lugosi's screen listings.
