The Burning Cross Reviews

One of the first screen examinations of the evils of the Ku Klux Klan, starring Daniels as a bitter and disillusioned WW II vet who falls into the "America for Americans" mentality preached by the men of the white robes and burning crosses. The ex-GI is slowly sucked into the cult and we witness the initiation rites and ceremonial cross-burnings that strike terror into the hearts of non-whites. While all of this must have had the taste of expose in 1947, today it is stiff and dated and the film never really achieves any sort of insight into the kinds of characters that join the KKK.
