Symphony of Living Reviews

Based on an actual event but given a bit of Hollywood flair to hype up the sentiment, this picture has Shean as an aging musician who has devoted his entire life to music, but who has lost out on his big chance due to an injury. His two children do little to help him out after the accident that destroys his career. His daughter, Brent, marries a millionaire and has a son who proves to have his grandfather's gift for music. Through a fluke, Shean becomes his grandson's music teacher, although this familial relationship is unknown to either Brent or her son. When Brent divorces her husband, they fight for custody of the son, but the judge rules that the rightful guardian should be the grandfather. Except for Brent, who is ill-fit to play the part of the bitchy daughter, the cast does a convincing job. One of the highlights of this picture is the classical music, including Offenbach's "Orpheus in Hades."
