School for Sex Reviews

This film is a stylish adaptation of a story by famed Japanese novelist Yukio Mishima. Lonely divorcee, Kishida, falls in love with a male prostitute, Yamazaki, who is half her age. Their relationship grows stronger and she invites him to live with her. When he is introduced to the daughter of one of Kishida's friends, the pair begin dating and soon become engaged. The jilted Kishida plans revenge and obtains some incriminating photos of Yamazaki. She threatens to show his fiancee if he doesn't break the engagement. The pressure proves too much for Yamazaki and he begins to deteriorate emotionally. Realizing the pain she has caused, Kishida loosens her grip over Yamazaki and destroys the pictures. She then returns to her uneventful existence as a dress shop owner. Kishida is electric as the lonely, tortured woman,--a role she familiarized herself with in the 1964 Japanese classic WOMAN IN THE DUNES.
