Sarong Girl Reviews

Corio, in a role not too dissimilar from her own beginnings as a stripper, plays a burlesque queen who is busted. Her lawyer, O'Flynn, cooks up a scheme to get her off with probation. They dig a woman out of the old people's home to pose as Corio's mother, thus vying for sympathy on the elderly woman's behalf. Free again, Corio decides to get revenge on the cop who busted her by putting the make on his son. But problems arise when the old lady who posed as the mother decides to disclose her true identity. The Ryan husband-and-wife team (at the time known for their work in radio, with Irene later known for her TV role as "Granny" on "The Beverly Hillbillies") supply a spark in their comic and musical routines. Musical numbers are also performed by Corio and Davis, backed by the Johnny "Scat" Davis Band.
