In order to ensure the safety of its northern sector against terrorist attacks, in the late 1970s Israel began an offensive against Lebanon, which was itself embroiled in a civil war. One result was the Israeli occupation of a good portion of southern Lebanon. Another result was the production of this drama, which examines the situation of Israeli soldiers who are suffering from battlefield trauma. The film is set in a mental ward for "shell-shock" patients in a military hospital in Haifa. The men in this ward have been given three weeks to get well enough to return to their duties on the battlefront. Curiously, the most independent and resistant patient (who, except for his screaming nightmares has protested that he doesn't belong on the ward) is the only one who actually shows any signs of lasting recovery.
