Ford stars as an American doctor who takes a job on a Mexican construction site, after his wife dies while giving birth. A group of prostitutes comes to the site to entertain the men, with Ford refusing the advances of Stevens in favor of the bottle. Upon discovering he has been infected by rabies, the doctor makes a mad dash over desert and mountains to get to a treatment center. He is accompanied by Stevens and Reynoso, the man who made Ford deliver his wife's baby before allowing him to take off. A fairly tense level of suspense is maintained while Ford and company battle various handicaps to get to the hospital. This race against time is used to good advantage, and it is what is needed to keep Ford from being a walking dead man.
