Scott's first adult role after a big career as a child star in Britain finds the rich girl head over heels in love with Gray, an auto mechanic who does not measure up to the social standards of her mother. Scott tries suicide, but it miscarries. The pair then elope to Gretna Green but are stopped by the police at the Scottish border because Scott is underage. A fresh performance by Scott helps to fan mild interest along the way; otherwise the film cloys from a surfeit of sweets.
