Night Spot Reviews

Uneasy mixture of comedy and crime as lead buffoon Parkyakarkus (who had gained a considerable amount of popularity from regular appearances on Eddie Cantor's radio show) tries to drum up some laughs, while undercover cop Lane gathers evidence from the orchestra pit (he poses as a trumpet player) to prove that gangster club-owner Page is in fact running a gem-smuggling operation. This was Allan "Rocky" Lane's (Harry Albertshart) first role as a leading man; he went on to become a major figure in B westerns. This was the premiere screen appearance for the singing, dancing Woodbury, who went on to play in more than 70 features in a 15-year period, then retired from the cinema to produce and direct stage plays and operas.
