Murder by Agreement Reviews

Wright is a gambler deep in debt. He has 48 hours to come up with some money or he's in big trouble with the syndicate. He meets Ziemann, an artist contemplating suicide because she is going blind. The two decide to take out a joint insurance policy. In order to receive the money, one of the pair must kill the other, but their plans are hampered when they fall in love. Then Ziemann is killed by a railroad car that has been uncoupled by a third party, Schmid. He is an old acquaintance of Wright's and a syndicate member who knows all about the policy. Wracked with grief, Wright collects the money and pays off his debt. An interesting film noir, JOURNEY INTO NOWHERE offers a new twist on the "double indemnity" theme so popular in movies. Filmed on location in South Africa; the British cut ran eight minutes shorter than the American version.
