Monster Dog Reviews

There is usually a good reason films are released straight to videocassette--they stink. Shot mostly in Spain in 1984, this wretched horror film with laughable special effects is no exception. It is, however, notable for the appearance of has-been rocker Alice Cooper, who plays a rock star named Vincent Raven (a small joke--Cooper's real name is Vincent Furnier). Raven, his girl friend/director Sandra (Victoria Vera), and a cast and crew arrive at the spooky ancestral home of Raven's family where Raven wants to shoot his next music video. The locals are none too fond of the rocker since his late father was a werewolf, and tensions rise as a pack of rabid dogs terrorizes the area. MONSTER DOG is about as inept as they come. The stupid script can't even decide whether its monster is a werewolf or a "monster dog," which accounts for one character's frenzied soliloquy: "You are the monster dog. . . Damn you! You are the werewolf! I know you are! I know it!"
