Le Septieme Jure Reviews

Blier is a well-liked, middle-aged man who, out on a picnic one day, spies on a half-nude girl and kills her when she rejects his advances. No one knows he did it, and her sweetheart, the seedy Riberolles, is sent to trial for the crime. Ironically, Blier is on the jury. He wrestles with his conscience and gets the man acquitted, but his wife becomes suspicious because of the line of questioning Blier has taken. He finally breaks down and confesses, but no one believes him. When he tries to get Riberolles to leave town, the two men fight, and Blier shoots Riberolles. Again Blier confesses, and again no one thinks he is capable of doing such a deed. He is finally sent to a sanitarium, vowing he will never return.
