Jamboree Reviews

A pretty dim hillbilly musical in which struggling country-band Freddie Fisher and his Schnickelfritz Band are "dumped on" by their manager, Byron, when they can't land a job. Once in the big city, however, Byron learns that a rich radio sponsor is willing to sponsor Ernest Tubbs and His Texas Troubadors. Seeking to get Fisher and his ensemble into the studio before Tubbs, Byron dashes back to the farm to grab them and they land the job. But trouble arises on the big day when their farm boss, Terry, won't let them walk out on her. This leaves the door open for Tubbs and his boys, who replace Fisher. In the end, everything works out for the best. Songs include: "Jamboree" (Fisher), and "Maggie Went to Auggie" (Charles Henderson). Mainly an effort to showcase some radio talent of the time.
