A witty comedy of manners originally made for British television that found its way to American shores. Set in postcolonial India, Bannerjee plays a young maharajah and Sen is his sister, who are besieged with art collectors and buyers from throughout the world when it is discovered that they own a priceless collection of paintings. The paintings are of little concern to Bannerjee, as he keeps them stored haphazardly in a room filled with junk. The kind of art he appreciates is the type Hugh Hefner publishes. Among the art collectors is Ashcroft (who won best supporting actress for A PASSAGE TO INDIA in 1984), a kindly British aristocrat determined that the paintings should be displayed in a British museum. She soon finds herself competing with rich American Pine for possession of the artwork.
