House of the Dead 2 Reviews

Reviewed By: Jeremy Wheeler

While it's not hard to surpass the shocking absurdity that was Uwe Boll's House of the Dead, this sequel is an adequate entry on its own in the big world of forgettable cable/straight-to-DVD gut-munchers. Connected by only a shred of cohesive plot from the first film, this low-budget shocker lowers the cheese factor and instead channels a bootleg Army Team vs. Monsters storyline. Thankfully, it doesn't waste time in getting to the decayed ones or the bloody action. On the gore side, plenty of severed limbs and intestinal cuisine are on the cinematic palate in the R-rated cut, but there's nothing too new here. That's the thing about House of the Dead 2 -- it's not special in any way, just like many of its low-budget buddies in the zombie boom of the mid-2000s. Genre apologists and cable fiends might find something worthy of watching here, if only to see the great Sid Haig in his three minutes of screen time.
