Spectacle of the Trojan War details the love story of Paris of Troy who is sent to Sparta on a peace mission but falls for Helen, the queen of the city state, whom he kidnaps, sparking a long and bloody war.

An overblown production that should have concentrated more on story development than how many extras could be squeezed in. Podesta plays "the face that launched a thousand ships," a role that helped Warner Bros. lose $4 million. A comic book script and Wise's careless direction sink this story from the land of warriors who used to hurl spears and shoot balls of fire at their enemies.
