Ghost Ship Reviews

Director Vernon Sewell's fifth version of this material, which was cribbed from an old French Grand Guignol play, concerns a young couple, Guy and Margaret (Dermot Walsh and Hazel Court), who purchase a yacht named The Cyclops, which, they are later told, is haunted. When the unbelievers ignore this warning, strange things begin to happen. Calling in an expert on the supernatural, Guy and Margaret discover--in flashback--that the former owner killed his wife and her lover and stored the two bodies on board. A talky but fairly atmospheric effort, GHOST SHIP is hampered by its low budget. The yacht on which the film is set is director Sewell's own. Sewell would tackle this plot one more time, in 1961, with HOUSE OF MYSTERY.
