Average hillbilly hokum starring the Weavers as a backwoods family forced to leave their land because of drought and seek their fortunes elsewhere. Along the way, they hook up with various hobos and wanderers until they come to rest in a small town which is dying because of periodic floods that hit the burg occasionally. The Weavers decide to save the town, and, with the help of their newfound friends, they successfully petition the governor to allow a levee to be constructed to stem the rising waters and make the town a nice place to settle. The sixth of the eleven "Weaver Brothers and Elviry" series which Republic produced between 1938 and 1943. The popular "Grand Ole Opry" radio performers, billed for the airwaves as "The Arkansas Travelers," were well known to rural America, and their modestly budgeted pictures returned a good profit.
