Congo Crossing Reviews

Playgirl Mayo, suspected of murder, hies to Congotanga, a piece of West Africa where fugitives gather because of a lack of extradition laws. There she meets Nader, who is surveying the land for the Belgian Congo government to prove it falls within that country's boundaries. Lorre is the law official who keeps all the crooks in line. Much of the plot hinges on the outcome of the survey, especially for Lorre, who stands to lose his job if the Belgians gain jurisdiction, and Selwart, the local drug runner and town honcho. There is an ambush at the airstrip as Mayo and Nader try to leave town, but Lorre comes to their rescue at the last minute, wryly explaining as only Lorre could do, "It just occurred to me--the Belgians, they need a chief of police, too!" Other than Lorre, the picture has little to recommend it.
