Republic finally had a big box-office hit with this, the third entry in its "Hit Parade" series. This film has a fine blend of story and musical numbers and features the song "A Change of Heart" (Harold Adamson, Jule Styne), which was nominated for an Oscar, as was the score. The simple tale tells of a washed-up songwriter, Carroll, who at first steals a tune written by Hayward. She confronts him with the theft, but he begs her to ghost-write for him. She agrees, hoping that when he gets famous with her songs, she will expose his deceit and embarrass him. Instead, they fall in love and sing their way to happiness.
