Suspected of spying for the Germans, Captain Alfred Dreyfus is tried and convicted of treason in 1894 and sentenced to be jailed for life at Devil's Island. When the newly promoted head of the military's counterintelligence unit, George Picquart, discovered that the Germans were still intercepting classified information, he decided to re-investigate Captain Dreyfus's case.
