Writer-director Geraldo Santos Pereira crafts an intriguing biopic about 19th-century Brazilian sculptor Antonio Francisco Lisboa (Mauricio Goncalves). Aleijadinho translates as "little cripple," a title given Lisboa after he contracted a disabling and deforming disease in his 40s. He was also born of mixed-race parents and discriminated against throughout his life.
