After School Reviews

This film begins in prehistoric times, when cavemen and women play in a stream, then flashes forward to the present day with hip priest Father Michael McCarren (Sam Bottoms). The intercutting between time frames continues without apparent pattern, while the story follows McCarren as he prepares to defend the Catholic Church on "The Dick Cavett Show" by rebutting an ex-priest who has written a book questioning the existence of God. Director William Olsen's film raises more questions than it answers. The narrative structure is both uninteresting and hard to follow, while the prehistoric sequences are ridiculously acted and cliched beyond belief.
