It's WW I and Ellison is in uniform. While at training camp the wily young soldier bets his buddies that he'll have breakfast with the general (Harvey). It takes a few comic turns to achieve that goal, but Ellison gets his breakfast with the big man in the end. Walker, the general's daughter, runs an unlikely (and unbelievable) taxi service for the enlisted men. Lake, later of the "Blondie" series, provides good comedy support, but mostly this is a routine, unfunny affair that was well dated by the time of its release. It was a remake of a 1919 silent comedy with four songs added to liven up matters. Songs include: "Goodnight, My Lucky Day," "It Must Be Love," "Now You're Talking My Language," "We Happen to Be in the Army" (Sammy Stept, Ted Koehler). MacLean, who starred in the original film, produced this version.
