So what's next for Leonard and Penny this season? Executive producer Bill Prady says they'll start off as friends, but "they're going to have to deal with what's going on in each others' lives and that's going to get a little complicated for them."

Parsons admits some of his favorite scenes are opposite Cuoco. "He's up there thinking in the clouds sometimes and she is the most Earth-bound of the characters there, and all you have to do is throw them in a room together and see what happens. It's somewhat amusing."

"Sheldon's trying to change and help the world," says Parsons of his character. "He's trying to figure out the world. So we can say that in some ways Sheldon is holding Leonard back, but Sheldon thinks that in a lot of ways Leonard is holding himself back."
