Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's Awesome Parody Makes Us Wish They Were in Star Wars

If there is one movie you don't want to compete with at the box office, it's Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Unfortunately, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler may have missed that memo when their film Sisters was slated to go up against the most anticipated film of the decade on Dec. 18.

The funny ladies aren't about to take the fight lying down though. Instead they've decided to commune with Star Wars fans via a featurette parody with a simple message: You can see them both.

Fey and Poehler, with some help form their Sisters co-stars Ike Barinholtz and Maya Rudolph, parodied the Star Wars behind the scenes footage that premiered at San Diego Comic-Con this summer. They use slow-motion shots and behind-the-scenes footage to show how their comedy about two sisters throwing a rager in their childhood home is just like the resurgence story of the famous Jedi.

"It's so exciting. It couldn't be more exciting even if it was," Fey elaborates in a faux British accent. They explain that Sisters was filmed in a house, a real house, and that they really aimed for a genuine "physicality" in their characters - just like J.J. Abrams requested of his Episode VII cast members. You can see the original video below.

As Star Wars has already broken pre-sale records, it's hard to imagine Sisters having a chance in that opening weekend - but hey, it is the holidays. Use that Christmas bonus to treat yourself to two movies. In the meantime, we'll hope Abrams sees this parody and takes it as a sign that Fey and Poehler should be recruited for Episode VIII.
