In a move that should shock exactly no one, Jessica Parker Kennedy has officially joined The FlashSeason 5 as a series regular.

Parker Kennedy plays Nora Allen, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris' (Candice Patton) grown-up daughter from the future, who has traveled back to her parents' time to fix a major -- yet mysterious -- mistake. We'll have to wait until The Flash returns to figure out what that mistake was, but there were quite a few opportunities for her to mess up the timeline, considering she paid multiple visits to the past in Season 4.

Showrunner Todd Helbing says the reasons behind those visits will become clear when The Flash returns for Season 5, and we'll also see Barry and Iris struggle with parenting a daughter who's already had her fair share of parenting.

Everything We Know About The Flash Season 5

"These guys are jumping into parenthood as adults with an adult. So they missed a lot of the bonding and sleepless nights and just getting to know your child as a baby -- they missed all that stuff," Helbing says. "They jumped right to meeting somebody as an adult."

The Flash returns Tuesdays this fall at 8/7c on The CW.

(Full Disclosure: TV Guide is owned by CBS, The CW's parent company.)
