The On My Block Season 2 Trailer Reveals Ruby's Fate

But what about Olivia?

The first season of Netflix's coming-of-age comedy On My Block ended tragically, with Olivia's (Ronni Hawk) and Ruby's (Jason Genao) lives hanging in the balance after they were shot during Olivia's quinceañera. The first trailer for Season 2, which premieres Friday, March 29, confirms what was first hinted at in the premiere date teaser: Ruby lived.

Unfortunately, Olivia is nowhere to be scene in the trailer, which doesn't necessarily mean she was an innocent victim of gang violence, but given her absence in the trailer and the sad, somber tone of the first teaser released last week, it certainly doesn't bode well for her character. Olivia's death would also drive home the seriousness of the threat of violence that regularly hangs over the show.

On My Block Creators Break Down That Shocking Finale

However, despite this, the trailer for the new season is bright and full of the same humor that first made the show, co-created by Eddie Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft (All Eyez On Me) and Lauren Iungerich (Awkward), stand out, a sign that life does, in fact, go on, even in the wake of senseless violence. Not only is it a new year, but Jamal (Brett Gray), who succeeded in his quest to find the $200,000 that went missing after a gang-related heist in the early '80s, is now rich but also paranoid that someone is going to find out he has the cash. Meanwhile, Monse (Sierra Capri) and Cesar (Diego Tinoco) are still going strong, Ruby's grandmother is still a first-class scene-stealer, and we officially can't wait to see what else the show has in store in Season 2.

On My Block Season 2 premieres Friday, March 29 on Netflix.
