Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) has decided her new mission this season on Grey's Anatomy will be reforming the broken health insurance system in the United States. The award-winning doctor is supposed to be keeping her head low after being fired and charged with community service for committing insurance fraud in Season 15, but instead she's going to tackle the system head-on.

In Thursday's episode, Meredith inadvertently started treating patients on her community service work site. After catching a lump on her supervisor's throat that could potentially be cancerous, she realized it wasn't a "few" people falling through the cracks of an overly complicated system, but a whole class of people. And Meredith is going to do something about it. She declared to DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) at the end of the hour that her mission is going to be finding help for all of these people, which will be an uphill battle with the status of her license still in question.

Grey's Anatomy has never been afraid of tackling relevant issues, but Meredith's fight will be taking place in an election season where real life politicians are debating the same issues she'll be addressing in her fight, making it easy for the show to parallel what's going on in our country at the moment.

The trouble for Meredith will start immediately, according to ABC. The official log line for next Thursday's episode reveals that Meredith is going to cause some "bad press" for Grey Sloan Memorial, and she'll have to find a way to make it up to her former co-workers. That doesn't sound good since Meredith's employment prospects are already in jeopardy. If her medical license isn't revoked, is she going to be forced to go to Pac-North because all of her bridges have been burned at the hospital with her name on the building? We could be heading for a Grey's civil war sooner than we think.

Elsewhere in the episode, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Link (Chris Carmack) seemed to have settled on keeping their child. Koracick (Gregg Germann) decided to go for the nuclear option against Owen (Kevin McKidd) after he was accidentally shocked in the nuts with a defibrillator. He's gotten a restraining order that says Owen has to stay 500 feet away from him at all times. That's going to make things complicated since Koracick is now Owen's boss's boss. This probably has nothing to do with Koracick being bitter that Teddy (Kim Raver) chose Owen over him after her baby was born. Nope, nothing at all... but, it does mean there's probably another doctor looking to find work outside of Grey Sloan.

Do you know if you're team Grey Sloan or Pac North yet? It looks like the dividing lines are already being drawn.
